Passion, Creation, Restoration, Cultivation, Knowledge, and Nebula. At birth, King Abner grants each person on Kallithea one of these six soul substances and gifts them a guardian dragon, which they won't see again until te.

Lyla Belvedere was raised to bear the substance of Cultivation, but she always felt amiss. On the most anticipated day of her life, her Unveiling Ceremony, she meets her guardian dragon, Discernment. But then, anticipation turns to grief when she discovers the truth about her soul.

She doesn’t bear Cultivation.

She bears Nebula.

Adding to the betrayal in her heart, something now hunts Lyla for her newly discovered soul substance, and she doesn’t understand why.

Eros Vortigern, the Commander of the Creation Unit, has his own vengeance in mind when it comes to this same looming evil. He risks it all to keep Lyla from the darkness that stalks her, while he hides in shadows of his own.

As the truth unravels, and danger escalates, Lyla must train her true substance with the help of a Master hand-picked by Discernment. As Lyla steps into her destiny and walks side-by-side with her Master of immense power, she must learn how to face the darkness head-on with the light wielded in her hands.
